Stones part company with Peter Nott

Monday 18th October 2010
MAIDSTONE UNITED have confirmed that they have parted company with manager Peter Nott and his back room coaching staff today.

Nott, who took over from the previous management duo Alan Walker and Lloyd Hume in February 2010, had been in charge for eight months.

The news comes only ten days after new owners Oliver Ash and Terry Casey took over the club from Paul Bowden-Brown.

The Stones are rooted to the foot of the Ryman Premier League table with only one win and three draws from 11 games and were knocked out of the FA Cup by lower league Whitehawk at the first attempt, although they defeated Ryman League Division One South side Burgess Hill Town on Saturday, in what turned out to be Nott’s final game in charge.

In a statement issued by Bill Williams to www.maidstoneunited.co.uk, the chief executive said: ““It is always very difficult to make decisions of this kind, especially when you are dealing with someone has been at the club for a very long time and given all he possibly can.”

“But we have had a dreadful run, sit bottom of the table and something had to be done.

“Interviews for a new manager will commence immediately and hopefully the new manager will be in place for tomorrow night's game.”

That game is a visit from fifth-placed Hendon, who have collected five wins and three draws from ten outings and are only five points behind league leaders Lowestoft Town.

Ironically, Nott's first game in charge of the club was against Hendon, which resulted in a 3-0 home defeat.
