Stones looking to go seven points clear

Friday 17th March 2006
Maidstone United are looking forward to their visit to Erith Town tomorrow, knowing that a victory will put them seven points clear of Beckenham Town in the race for the Kentish Observer League title, reports www.maidstoneunited.co.uk

Lynden Rowland will return to the side following the illness that kept him out of Tuesday evening's League Cup Semi-Final first Leg win at Hythe Town.

Also in with a chance of a return is central defender Ryan Royston. He has missed the last two games following an accident at work. Royston, who is a PE teacher, was moving a gymnastics vaulting horse but managed to drop it onto his foot. Fortunately, the injury has turned out to be bruising only rather than a break as was feared at one point.

Sam Tydeman came off at half-time against
Hythe Town with a re-occurrence of the tight hamstring that plagued him earlier in the season. He will face a fitness test prior to the match against The Dockers tomorrow.

Lloyd Hume will also return to the squad this weekend after missing Tuesday's game due to business commitments.

Coach Alan Walker stressed in the build up to this game "We'll be looking to continue our good form of late with another strong performance. We won't take anything for granted against Erith but we know that a win for us will put us seven points clear of Beckenham as they don't have a game this weekend. A seven point lead will be a great psychological advantage to us, particularly at this stage of the season."

Supporters travelling to this game are reminded that building work at the Erith Sports Centre has now been completed and that unlike our previous two visits to Erith that the bar and balcony areas (which is now 20% bigger) are now fully open.

Officials from
Erith Town have stressed that both food and drink will be available from the bar area on matchday.
