Stones conquer Europe
A superb team effort saw England’s only representative came top of their group after the Stones defeated St Michiesgestel (Holland) 3-0, Alcmaria Victrix (Holland) 4-0, Sus Vehrte (Germany) 3-0, and drew with the hosts V.V.Kamerik (Holland) 0-0.
On day two the Stones defeated RKAV (Holland) 3-0 in the semi final to set up an eagerly awaited final against the holders SC Steele (Germany) who had won all of their group games.
With the Maidstone United and Union Jack flags proudly on display the Stones started brightly and Anthony Bodle fired home from the edge of the penalty area.
Soon after James Peacock increased the Stones lead when he headed home a well delivered free kick.
The Stones defence were determined to remain unbeaten throughout the competition and they managed this to seal a well deserved 2-0 victory.
As well as lifting the Winners trophy the Stones captain Jon Dey was also awarded the ‘Player of the Tournament’ and Keelan Mooney was voted ‘Player of the Tour’ by his jubilant team mates.
