Stars come out for Charity Game

Thursday 20th March 2008

A HOST of stars from Kent League club Slade Green and Coca-Cola League One outfit Millwall will take to the field for a charity game next month.

A very special game will take place on Sunday, 13th April (1pm) at Slade Green’s ground at The Small Glen, Moat Lane, in memory of one of their former players, the late Neil “Chopper” Harris.

Slade Green Vets will do battle with Millwall Vets, which will see the majority of Slade Green’s Kent Senior Trophy winning side of 1992, line-up together for this very special occasion.

To name a few, Colin Hart, Jason Head Kevin ‘Treacle ‘Lee, Mark ‘Milko’White, Sean Bristow, Teddy John, Craig Townsend, Martin Taylor and Dave Clark will feature. Expect cameo appearances also from John Hibbert, Tony Carley and Peter Cappuccio

Last but not least Green’s glory winning manager Tod Dowling will once again be shouting his orders from the dugout.

A host of old Millwall favourites are expected to turn out for The Lions. Those likely to appear at The Small Glen are Andy Roberts, Paul Sansome, Nicky Coleman, Sean Sparham, Andy Massey, Alan McLeary, Wesley Reid, Kevin Bremner, Dave Mehmet, Paul Roberts, Dave Martin, John Lesley, Darren Morgan, Michael Marks, Steve Lovell, Trevor Aylott, Trevor Brooker, Roger Wynter, Joe Little Les Briley and Billy Neil.

Harris’ family have yet to decide what they will do with the proceeds from the game. It will possibly be used to take his sister Lorraine, who is in a care home, for days out like he used to do or spent on something to keep his name alive.
