Paul Barnes leaves Staines Town after 10 months in charge to commit to other projects

Sunday 03rd January 2021

STAINES TOWN have confirmed the resignation of their manager Paul Barnes with immediate effect.

The club are in second-place in the Isthmian League South Central Division table with five wins and a draw from their opening eight league outings and are level on points with leaders Waltham Abbey.

However, the Swans haven’t played since their 3-1 home win over FC Romania on Saturday 31 October 2020, due to the current League suspension due to Covid-19.

“Paul has decided that the time is right for him to leave his position in order for him to commit to other projects,” said a club statement.

“We would like to thank him for his work during his 10 months at Wheatsheaf Park and wish him all the best for the future.”

The club will begin the search for a new first-team manager immediately to replace the former Welling United, Margate, Ashford United and Greenwich Borough man.
