Sporting Club Thamesmead re-appoint Ross Baker and Danny Joy after Aaron Jeffery and Ennio Gonnella step-down from the Bayliss Avenue hot-seat
SPORTING CLUB Thamesmead have re-appointed Ross Baker and Danny Joy as joint-managers, while Alex Warner has been appointed coach.
“The club reluctantly agreed to the decision of joint-managers Aaron Jeffery and Ennio Gonnella to stand down with immediate effect on Saturday night,” said a club statement.
“The board would like to thank both for their efforts and wish them well for the future.”
The Bayliss Avenue club are in the bottom five (seventeenth-place) in the Southern Counties East Football League First Division, having collected six wins and two draws from their 18 league games.
The side suffered a 3-0 home defeat to Rochester United at the weekend.
Jeffery began the campaign in sole charge but lost his first four league games of the season, scoring just the one goal, conceding 10 goals.
Gonnella came in after the demise of Dartford based side Kent Football United and The Acre were dumped out of The FA Vase at the first attempt, losing 1-0 at league rivals Tooting Bec.
The pair were together for 20 games, where the side won seven, drawn three and lost 10, in all competitions.
Sporting Club Thamesmead welcome Staplehurst Monarchs United to Bayliss Avenue on Saturday, 28 January (15:00).
Paul Atkins’ side are one place lower in the table, also with 20 points on the board after 18 games.
Forest Hill Park (18 points from 16 games), Lewisham Borough (14 points from as many games) and Bermondsey Town (four points from 19 games) are beneath the pair in the pecking order.
