EBBSFLEET UNITED’S FA Trophy-winning skipper Paul McCarthy has laid to rest any rumours of imminent retirement by signing a new one-year contract at Stonebridge Road.
The former Brighton & Hove Albion and Wycombe Wanderers defender, who joined the Fleet in November 2004, will be 37 when the 2008-09 season kicks off but his appetite for the game remains undiminished.
Having notched his 129th appearance for the Fleet at Wembley, Macca aims to nudge his record nearer the 200-mark while also maintaining an active role behind the scenes in his capacity as youth coach.
Another defender who has put pen to paper is 23-year-old Mark Ricketts, the former Charlton youth player who joined the Fleet from The Valley in August 2006 and will expect to pass the 100-appearances post during the coming season.
Fleet manager Liam Daish told www.ebbsfleetunited.co.uk: " I am pleased to have secured the services of both players, they are good to have around the place and are a credit to our club.
“Paul has earned this, he is our longest-serving player and was an absolute stalwart throughout last season – his performance at Wembley was outstanding"
Club Secretary Roly Edwards said that he expected one or two more of the FA Trophy-winning squad to follow suit in the next couple of days.
DARTFORD manager Tony Burman has today unveiled the signing of tough-tackling midfielder Danny Dafter from Ryman League Division One North side Brentwood Town, where he was team captain.
The former East Thurrock player scored six goals in 43 appearances for Brentwood last season.
RECENTLY installed Sutton United manager Paul Doswell has made his first additions to his squad and at the same time announced his management team.
Steve McKimm, 32, moves to Gander Green Lane as player-coach, a position he held at Margate last season and is one of many new faces at the club, relegated to the Ryman Premier League.
BROMLEY are pleased to announce that Jack Haverson, Luke I'Anson, Gareth I Williams, Theo Davis and Tutu Henriques (who joined way back in 2004 and will now start his fifth successive season at Hayes Lane) have all committed their futures to the club after discussions with new manager Mark Goldberg.
The Blue Square South club is also pleased to have added Dam Paterson as physio.
Bromley’s current squad, meanwhile, consists of the following players:
Steve Clark, Omari Coleman, Mark Corneille, Theo Davis, Rob Gillman, Jack Haverson, Tutu Henriques, Danny Hockton, Luke I'Anson, Anthony Joseph, Nic McDonnell, Jerrome Sobers and Gareth Williams.
