Six recent departures have hit us hard, admits Larkin

JOE and Steve Wade made debuts for Tunbridge Wells at home to Norton Sports in midweek, having joined from Kent League rivals Lordswood.

"I know Joe from our time together a few years ago at Ashford, he is an excellent ball-playing midfielder with a good engine, and will bring extra creative qualities to the midfield engine room," Wells’ assistant manager Martin Larkin told www.tunbridgewellsfc.co.uk, when welcoming the stocky midfielder back to Culverden Stadium.

"Steve is an instant hit with his first half performance against Norton Sports. "

Manager Mike Robbins has been desperate to bring in a powerful centre forward, and Steve certainly fits the bill.

And Larkin added, "Both are 6 foot 3, and bring a certain physical presence to the side which we may have lacked at times this year."

Meantime, Alan Chapman has also signed forms to offer cover in the squad. Chapman hails from the South West like Robbins, and is an FA Vase winner.

"Alan will add quality and experience when we need to call upon him. Luke Wallond has also rejoined to try and force his way into the first team picture," Larkin added.

"The guys are very keen to finish the season well and pick up significantly more points than last year, the recent departures (6 regular first team players in total) have hit the squad hard but the guys that have come in have helped lift the spirits.

"Joe Fuller and Jason Bourne in particular have been central to keeping the guys together and ensuring we push on and remain competitive as there is still a lot to play for this season."
