Sittingbourne suffer another vandalism attack at Bourne Park
Cash-strapped Ryman League Division One South club Sittingbourne have once again been the victim of vandals attacking their ground at Bourne Park.
Club spokesperson Mrs Tania Spice explained the situation on the fans’ forum on www.sittingbournefc.co.uk.
She said: “Vandals caused more damage at the ground last Friday night by driving a car into the perimeter fencing under the Sittingbourne Football Club sign, carving in a panel of the metal fencing and bending one of the poles supporting the ball catcher nets.
“May not sound a lot, but it will cause a lot of extra work for the few that struggle to maintain the ground.
“Earlier in the week someone shot a pellet through one of the windows in the cabin, added to the previous theft of the electricity cable and further damage to the dug-outs, some of us are getting pretty peed off!”
She added: “Seems like one step forward and three steps back all the time.”
One Brickies supporter vented his anger towards the local thugs, adding: “Why oh why do people find it fun to do things like this?
“I can sort of understand nicking cable, they can make money out of that from an easy target, but driving a car into the fence, why?”
