Sittingbourne chairman pays tribute to outgoing reserve team boss

Tuesday 17th October 2006

Sittingbourne begin the search for a new reserve team manager following the recent resignation of Gary Gower.

Chairman Mr Andy Spice paid tribute to Gower following seven years loyal service to the Bourne Park club.

“Gary has been involved with our club for seven years, first with Sittingbourne Lions and then as reserve team manager,” he told www.sittingbournefc.co.uk.

“The unpaid role of Sittingbourne reserve team manager is not an easy task, as in our quest to achieve and witness success for the first team, the reserve team is often overlooked.

“I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank Gary and his wife, who despite the fact that they must at times have felt unacknowledged and unappreciated, gave their time so wholeheartedly.

“I know that this decision did not come easily and I sincerely hope that having given part of his life to the club, he will not become a stranger at Bourne Park. Gary, you will always be welcome as my guest.”

Reserve team players are asked to attend Bourne Park at 7:30pm on Thursday night for a get together with first team manager Steve Lovell.

Lovell's first team travel to strugglers Metropolitan Police tonight before welcoming Arlesey Town to Bourne Park in the first qualifying round of the FA Trophy on Saturday.
