Sittingbourne accept manager Aslan Odev's resignation

SITTINGBOURNE begin the search for a new manager after accepting Aslan Odev’s resignation at a board meeting.

The Woodstock Park club are sitting in the bottom four in the Bostik South East Division table, having won five and drawn two of their 18 league games and are only three points clear of bottom-of-the-table side Herne Bay.

Sittingbourne were thrashed 5-0 at Hastings United in Odev’s final game in charge of the club last Saturday.

A club statement said: “Following a board meeting of Sittingbourne Football Club, manager Aslan Odev offered his resignation and this was accepted.

“Sittingbourne Football Club would like to put on record their appreciation for all the hard work he has done during his time with us.

“Aslan is a good coach and a pleasure to work with.  He worked tirelessly to improve results.

“The club wishes Aslan good luck in the future.  An announcement about a new manager will be made shortly.”

Odev's statistics in all competitions saw Sittingbourne win 15 games, draw four and lose 22 games while he was in charge at Woodstock Park after taking over from Nick Davis in January 2018.

Sittingbourne travel to Ramsgate on Saturday 19 January 2019 on a run of one win in their last 12 games.

The Rams are now managed by former Brickies’ manager Davis.

Davis, a former Ramsgate defender, suffered two defeats to Ashford United (1-3), Whitstable Town (0-1), but bounced back by beating Faversham Town (1-0) and Haywards Heath (3-2) last weekend.
