Sheppey United make extremely difficult decision to part company with boss Jack Midson
SHEPPEY UNITED have announced the shock departure of manager Jack Midson this morning.
“After a meeting between the chairman and manager yesterday evening, Sheppey United can confirm that Jack Midson has departed the football club,” said a club statement.
“This was an extremely difficult decision to reach and we would like to place on record our thanks to Jack for all of his efforts over the past 11 months he was in charge of the first team.
“Ross Wiles shall take interim charge of the first team whilst the search for a new manager begins.”
The 39-year-old guided Sheppey United to a seventh-place finish in the Isthmian League South East Division last season, their maiden campaign in the division.
The club banked 65 points from their 38 league games, missing out on a place in the play-offs by two points.
Midson’s final game in charge of the club was a 2-2 draw at Cray Valley on the final day of the season, which also proved to be Tommy Osborne’s final game in charge of the Millers.
Sheppey United confirmed that Midson left his role as Academy director on 30 June.
Midson took over from quadruple winning Ernie Batten on Tuesday 2 August 2022 and took charge of 48 games in all competitions, where the Ites won 22, drew 12 and suffered 14 defeats.
The Ites kick-off their new league campaign away to newly-promoted side Broadbridge Heath on Saturday 12 August.
