SHEPPEY UNITED assistant manager Marcel Nimani says his side will focus on all competitions this month.

Ernie Batten’s side welcome Isthmian League South Central side Marlow to Holm Park tomorrow in The FA Cup First Qualifying Round.

Unbeaten Sheppey United sit proudly at the top of the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table, three points clear of Glebe.

Marlow are in sixth-place with a 100% record from their opening two league games and have scored eight goals without reply in all three outings so far this term.

“Following last season’s great run in the FA Cup, we are delighted with a home draw as we look to replicate the adrenaline of last season,” said Nimani.

Sheppey United beat Chatham Town 3-2 at Holm Park last Saturday before Ben Wilson notched the only goal of the game to beat Gillingham based side Hollands & Blair two days later.

“We have had a positive start to the season. The Bank Holiday saw us pick maximum points against two local rivals in two very difficult games,” added Nimani.

“We enter a new month with new objectives as we look forward to a cup calendar with FA Cup, FA Vase and the Kent Senior Trophy that are all scheduled within this month and all three competitions will be respects and treated with the same ambition as any league game.

“Our recent history in each of these competitions has been great. As a squad we know the impact the cup runs have in team cohesion and we know the joy it brings to the island.

“In The FA Cup we face Marlow, an established side who compete a step above us in the league pyramid.

“This is a side who have made an excellent start to their season, with a 100% winning record.

“Marlow is also a club with a rich history in The FA Cup and it is obvious this club live and breath the spirit of this competition.  They are a very confident side who are potentially favourites to progress into the next round.

“This is going to be a tough afternoon for us, but a challenge which we are prepared and looking forward to.”

Sheppey United reached The FA Cup Second Qualifying Round for the first time last season, losing 3-1 at National League South side Eastbourne Borough.
