Sean Glover leaves Orpington after two successful seasons

ORPINGTON have appointed former Farnborough Old Boys Guild manager Byron Beard as their new manager today.

Beard, 30, who has played for Dartford, Thamesmead Town, Erith & Belvedere, Orpington, Phoenix Sports, Beckenham Town and Glebe, has taken over from Sean Glover, who was in charge of the Kent Invicta League club for two seasons.

A brief club statement said: “The club and players would like to thank Sean Glover for the massive contribution he made in taking the O’s forward over two successful seasons.”

Glover guided Orpington to a top-five finish in the Kent Invicta League table last season.

Beard, meanwhile, couldn’t halt Farnborough Old Boys Guild relegation from the Haart of Kent County League Premier Division, where the club finished at the foot of the table last season.

The High Street outfit suffered 23 defeats from their 28 league games, conceding 116 goals in the process.
