Seager relishing derby clash at Folkestone
WHITSTABLE TOWN boss Marc Seager is looking forward to the trip to Kent rivals Folkestone Invicta tomorrow, writes Stephen McCartney.
The Oystermen go into the Cheriton Road clash just one place above the Ryman League Division One South drop zone, although three points clear of Walton Casuals, who occupy on of the two relegation places.
Seager, speaking to www.kentishfootball.co.uk this morning, has challenged his side to rise to the occasion against Neil Cugley’s side, although he loves to be involved in a passion filled local derby.
“I’m looking forward to it very much,” he said. “Whether you’re a player or a manager, Kent derbies are always special occasions, full of passion and excitement and I expect tomorrow to be no different, between two football playing sides.
“I’m looking forward to having a drink with Neil in his office. He’s a person that I’ve always had a lot of respect for and he’s always been very helpful and supportive towards me in my short managerial career.”
Meanwhile, Gordon Temple has issued a rallying cry to fellow supporters to get behind Seager and his side as they bid to beat the drop back down to the Kent League.
“We all need to get behind the team, come rain or shine,” Mr Temple told www.whitstabletownfc.co.uk.
“I am here week in, week out, even if it’s a bit cold or the results are not going our way.
“We are playing in a great league, which I think the Ryman League is and we visit some great clubs and in turn, host really friendly supporters when they visit the Belmont.
“Now is the time we need to get behind Marc and give all the players our backing. The only way we can show our support is on the terraces.”
