Southern Counties East Football League: We are still planning for a 5 September start and that is the FA's hope

Monday 17th August 2020

The Southern Counties East Football League has issued the following statement:

“Following the Steps Five and Six Meeting, The Football Association have been unable to give us the news that fans can yet return to grounds.

The DCMS have apparently approved the latest FA plans but the final word rests with No.10 and that decision is expected to be communicated in the next week.

It has been confirmed that the Extra-Preliminary Round of the FA Cup will be played on the scheduled date of Tuesday 1 September 2020, even if it has to be behind closed doors. The draws for the early rounds of the FA Cup and FA Vase will be released tomorrow.

We are currently still planning for a 5 September start to the season, and that is the FA’s hope, so we ask clubs to continue their preparations for that date until told otherwise.

We fully support the safe return of supporters back into grounds and are hoping for better news on this front in the coming days.”
