Ryman reaches 20th year milestone of sponsoring the Isthmian Football League

Sunday 07th February 2016

The Isthmian Football League and title sponsors Ryman, part of the Theo Paphitis Retail Group, have agreed to extend the longest running sponsorship partnership in football until the end of the 2016-17 campaign.

Announced over the weekend, the one year extension will see the Ryman League’s 72 clubs kicking off in August for a milestone twentieth season under the banner of the nationwide stationery retailer.

Delighted officials have also found a unique way to celebrate the record-breaking extension to a partnership dating back to 1997 with specially produced match balls marked with the number twenty set to be introduced next season.

In a statement released yesterday, two other companies of the Theo Paphitis Retail Group also confirmed their continued sponsorship of the league’s cup competitions until at least the end of next season.

For the third season running, homewares retailer Robert Dyas will sponsor the Alan Turvey Trophy League Cup, while the lingerie brand Boux Avenue will continue to lend its name to the Boux Avenue Women’s Cup.

Having led the way in sponsorship since securing Rothmans in 1973 as football’s first title sponsors, the Ryman League is now working to extend its relationship with the sponsors beyond the latest agreement.

Ryman League chairman Nick Robinson told www.isthmian.co.uk: “We are very proud to be associated with Ryman and the Theo Paphitis Retail Group. They have been incredibly supportive throughout the last 19 years and we hope to continue the association for many seasons to come.”

Theo Paphitis, chairman of the Theo Paphitis Retail Group, said: “Our Group has enjoyed a committed and rewarding relationship with the Isthmian Football League. We are delighted to be reaching a milestone of 20 years through Ryman’s sponsorship of the main competition.

"As the league has expanded its activities into other areas of football, it has given us the opportunity to do the same with our association through my other group companies; Robert Dyas and Boux Avenue.

“We look forward to the continued success of the league and the work of its clubs in their communities.”
