Rusthall part company with joint-managers Steve Ashmore and Steve Sands after suffering relegation
RUSTHALL begin the search for a new manager after parting company with joint-managers Steve Ashmore and Steve Sands today.
The pair guided the Jockey Farm outfit to promotion from the Southern Counties East Football League First Division after finishing runners-up to Glebe in their first season in joint-charge.
However, the amateur club struggled in the Premier Division and suffered relegation after finishing second-from-bottom in the table, having won seven and drawn eight of their 38 league outings.
Hollands & Blair survived under Clint Gooding, the Gillingham based club completing their campaign on 31 points, two more than Rusthall, who will join basement side Rochester United in the First Division next season.
A club statement said: “We would like to thank both Steve Sands and Steve Ashmore for their dedication and commitment over the last two seasons as well as earning us promotion last season.
“A new management team will be appointed and announced in due course.”
The Rustics finished their campaign without a win in seven games and they suffered a humiliating 7-2 home defeat to fifth-placed finishers Croydon on Saturday.
