Rochester United part ways with manager Lee Garlinge despite top-five placing
ROCHESTER UNITED have parted company with their manager Lee Garlinge.
The Southern Counties East Football League First Division club posted a 43-word statement on their Twitter account.
“Unfortunately, this week we have parted ways with our manager Lee Garlinge.
“As a club we would like to thank Lee for his services over the past year and wish him all the best in the future.
“Once a spartan, always a spartan.”
The Rede Court Road outfit were in fifth-place in the table at the time of the coronavirus health pandemic which brought the campaign to a halt in March.
The news hasn’t gone done well within the dressing room, with defensive player Tony Whitaker saying on his Twitter account, “As if this year couldn’t get any worse!
“Last season was easily the most enjoyable I’ve ever had in football, thanks for everything gaffer.”
The Spartans have been drawn at home to their league rivals Sutton Athletic in The Buildbase FA Vase Second Qualifying Round on Saturday 10 October 2020.
The 2020-21 Southern Counties East Football League campaign is expected to start on Saturday 5 September, although no league fixtures have been published.
The UK Government announced yesterday that fans can attend games from Step Three of the Non-League football pyramid and all clubs await guidance from The Football Association.
