Kevin Brown joins Matt Hume's management team at Rochester United
ROCHESTER UNITED manager/chairman Matt Hume has appointed Kevin Brown as his joint-manager.
Brown was Barry Morgan’s assistant at K Sports in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division before he left the club on 25 January and Morgan appointed Phil Miles on 31 January.
Miles lost his managerial role at Rochester United on 12 December after losing 10 of his 20 games in charge at Rede Court Road.
“We are pleased to announce that Kevin Brown will be joining our management team,” said a Rochester United statement.
“He brings a wealth of experience, having played semi-professionally for over 20 years.
“We also welcome Sam Sketchley, who comes in as our goalkeeper coach. Sam brings good experience having previously worked alongside Kevin at previous clubs.”
Brown added: "An opportunity to work as joint-manager with Matt Hume was too good to turn down. It's an ambitious club as well."
Rochester United are now in eleventh-place in the Southern Counties East Football League First Division table, having collected 28 points from their 20 league games.
The Spartans have played seven games since Hume regained control of team affairs, winning four of them in all competitions but they crashed to a 6-1 defeat at Premier Division leaders Chatham Town in the Challenge Cup Third Round in midweek.
Hume and Brown takes their side to Bridon Ropes on Saturday.
Leaders Sutton Athletic slipped up against Kent Football United on Tuesday night, losing 4-2 at Lowfield Street.
Stansfeld are in second-place, four points behind the leaders but with two games in hand.
Tooting Bec are in third, three points clear of both Snodland Town and Bridon Ropes – who have 44 points – and occupy the play-off places.
