Robbins' looking forward to "massive game" against Dalers

Monday 03rd November 2008

TUNBRIDGE WELLS boss Mike Robbins hopes the top-three showdown against Holmesdale goes ahead at Culverden Stadium tomorrow night, writes Stephen McCartney.

His side are in third place in the Bulmers Cider Kent League table - five points behind the Bromley based outfit, who are in second, and level on points with leaders Hythe Town.

Robbins’ highflyers also knocked VCD Athletic out of the League Cup at the weekend, winning 2-1 at Oakwood, going through 3-2 on aggregate, but he knows his side face a tough time against the Dalers.

With a big crowd expected, officials are hoping the game does go ahead, especially as a reserve team game fell victim to a waterlogged pitch at the weekend.

Robbins, however, speaking to www.tunbridgewellsfc.co.uk, has plenty of respect for what Tony Beckingham and Ken Thurgood are doing at Oakley Road.

“It’s going to be a massive game,” said Robbins. “They’ve dropped a couple of points, lost one or two players, but they’re still going strong.

“We won’t be underestimating them when they come to us. They are a force to be reckoned with and are where they are on merit.

“But so are we, and we will be properly drilled and thoroughly looking forward to the game.”
