WHITSTABLE TOWN manager Justin Luchford says the club are moving forward after he persuaded talented midfielder Jake Beecroft to stay at the club. The 22-year-old left Blue Square Bet South side Tonbridge Angels to sign for the perennial Ryman League Division One South strugglers in March.
The Oystermen, who will be under the chairmanship of former referee Gary Johnson once he gets voted in at the club’s annual general meeting, announced today that the former Rushden & Diamonds pro is staying at The Belmont.
“This is a massive step forward for the club as Jake can see we are moving forward as a club and his signing will lead the way to show that we really mean to progress from last season,” Luchford told www.whitstabletownfc.co.uk.
“Anyone who has witnessed Jake play since joining us with less than half the season remaining will understand how delighted I am Jake is with us next season.”
Beecroft began playing in the youth ranks at Tonbridge Angels, before he was snapped up by Rushden & Diamonds, but Tommy Warrilow brought him back to the Angels in May 2010.
A club statement added: “Since Beecroft joined in March the side has looked stronger and more organised. Jake made an immediate impact both on and off the pitch.”
