Ramsgate's price for defender was too high, admits Hessenthaler

Andy Hessenthaler insists no deal will be done for Ramsgate defender Ollie Schulz - unless his club drop their asking price, writes Justin Allen.

The Dover Athletic boss, responding to newspaper reports that he had made a bid for the Rams star, said the two clubs were miles apart on the player's valuation.

He told www.doverathletic.com : "It's come out in the papers that we've made a bid for the player. We actually have not made any offer for Ollie because Ramsgate's asking price is way too high for us to entertain making a bid.

"I don't want to get involved in any kind of slanging match but unless Ramsgate drop their valuation of the player to a more realistic price we won't be making any deal.

"I'm not too bothered about the situation because we're getting cracking with our own pre-season preparations and defender Matt Fish, from Crystal Palace, has impressed me so far in training.

"We're talking to lots of players at the moment and things are very promising for us."

In other news, chairman Jim Parmenter says the club are close to agreeing a deal with a new first-team sponsor.

He said: "We're keeping our fingers crossed that everything goes through. If it does, we may be making an announcement next week."
