We trust our younger players going into a really tough test against Enfield, says Ramsgate boss Matt Longhurst
RAMSGATE manager Matt Longhurst says he still has a number of injuries going into tomorrow’s trip to Enfield Town.
The Rams make the trip to the fifth-placed Isthmian League Premier Division side in The FA Trophy Third Qualifying Round.
Ramsgate have climbed up to ninth-place in the Isthmian League South East Division table with seven points from six games and have beaten Burgess Hill Town 3-0 and drawn 1-1 against Herne Bay in their last two outings.
“We have managed to get four points from the last two games. We have carried a number of injuries to key players. Lee Prescott, Ashley Miller, Rory Smith, Oshaye Hutchinson and Roman Campbell all still miss the game this weekend,” revealed Longhurst.
“We have trusted the younger players and a squad of no fewer than 10 players under 22-years of age has gained the last two results and go into a really tough test against Enfield.
“Enfield pose a major threat in Billy Bricknell, of course, as well as the likes of Jared Small.
“They are a very powerful team, who can mix the game up. They have pace and power in abundance and are doing well in their league.
“We go into the game as underdogs, of course, and it’s an opportunity to go up against a team from a higher level, which myself, the staff and the players’ are looking forward to.
“We have a game plan of how to try and implement our style on them and I know they watched us on Tuesday, so they will know a little bit about us also.
“These cup games are great for players, the club and its fans and it’s a game we are looking forward to.”
Enfield Town have collected 15 points from their nine league games and are six points adrift of league leaders Worthing.
Striker Bricknell has scored four goals this season and the north London side went down to a 2-0 defeat at Carshalton Athletic last weekend.
