Goals from Shaun Welford and substitute David Cory has given Ramsgate a four point lead at the top of the Ryman League Division One table, stretching their unbeaten run to 17 competitive games.
Cory wrapped up the deserved win with three minutes left when he touched home Welford's quickly taken free kick.
Ramsgate striker Ian Pulman went close to opening his account within three minutes of his home debut at a windy Southwood Stadium.
The former Dartford striker, playing in a three man attack, cut inside his marker but his 16-yard shot was pushed around the near post by Fleet stopper Justin Gray.
The Hampshire side called Rams' 18-year-old stopper James Plumley into action, making a comfortable save from Martin Girling's right-footed effort from 25-yards.
Good play from the Thanet side gave them their next chance after 17 minutes when Edd Vahid's cross from the right was poked wide by Welford.
Ramsgate dominated the entire first half, and from their sixth corner after 26 minutes, James Gregory's flag-kick kick was met by an unmarked Edd Vahid at the far post, whose header sailed just over.
Fleet were restricted to long range efforts, and on the half-hour mark, Darrren Smart's right-footed shot flew high over the bar.
Ramsgate peppered the visitors goal late in the half as long range shots reigned in by Michael Yianni and Steffan Ball with Welford going the closest when his deflected shot was saved by Gray.
Their last chance of a frustrating opening half, saw Pulman slip the ball to Edd Vahid, whose 18-yard shot rolled to Gray.
Another chance came the Kent's side's way early in the second half as Ball cut his way past two defenders on the by-line, cut inside and as he was crowded out squared to Pulman's whose shot deflected over.
Welford came close to scoring just before the hour mark, leaving his marker in his wake, after latching onto Yianni's through ball, but his shot went agonisingly wide of the post.
Fleet's goal was leading a charmed life as Yianni's 14-yard shot somehow found the wrong side of the foot of the left upright, after Ball's low centre after the striker was sent clear by Simon Pettit.
Ramsgate finally broke the deadlock on 64 minutes when Pulman was brought down on the edge of the box by Matty Lewis, who was booked.
Ball's right-footed 22-yard free kick was spilled by Gray and Welford was on hand to slam the ball home from six-yards to give them the goal they fully deserved.
Fleet appealed for their first corner of the game after 74 minutes when Lewis' long range free-kick just cleared the bar.
Eddie Smith's late overhead kick from six-yards was brilliantly tipped over by Rams' goalkeeper Plumley.
The Rams wrapped up the win with three minutes remaining when Cory touched home his seventh goal of the season from close range following Welford's quickly taken free-kick on the edge of the penalty box.
