Our young squad will be trying to get the three points against a very strong Dorking side and push up the league where we belong, says Ramgate joint manager Danny Ward

RAMSGATE joint-manager Danny Ward says he wants his young side to push the club up the league – where they belong.

The Rams go into their home game against league leaders Dorking Wanderers on a big of a high after thrashing a youthful Ebbsfleet United side 5-0 to reach the last eight of the Kent Reliance Senior Cup on Tuesday night.

Dorking Wanderers will prove to be more challenging than an understrength side from a Vanarama National League South club though.

They lead the Ryman League Division One South table by six points having won 15, drawn one and lost only three league games this season.

Ramsgate, meanwhile, sit in 18th place (bottom seven) with a playing record of five wins, three draws and 10 league defeats and are looking over their shoulders going into their 19th league game of the season especially as they are only five points clear of the relegation zone.

“Difficult game this weekend with a home match against high-flying Dorking Wanderers, who are six points clear at the top of the league,” said Danny Ward.

“We go into the match with a boost of getting into the Kent Reliance Senior Cup Quarter-Finals with a 5-0 win over Ebbsfleet United.

“We only have Tom Loynes missing, who has a scan next week, but our young squad will be trying to get the three points against a very strong Dorking side and push up the league where we belong.”

Dorking Wanderers arrive in Thanet with the news that today they have signed former Woking man Giuseppe Sole, 28, who has featured in the division above for Leatherhead earlier in the season and he makes his debut against Ramsgate.
