Ramsgate boss Matt Longhurst retains 14 players from expunged campaign

Sunday 05th April 2020

RAMSGATE manager Matt Longhurst has confirmed which players he will retain at Southwood Stadium next season.

The Rams were in the bottom three in the Isthmian League South East Division with 20 points from their 30 games before the campaign was halted by the coronavirus outbreak.

Charlie Burns, Giorgio Russo, Aaron Simpson, Will Thomas, Phil Starkey, James Morrish, Harry Norman, Mitchell Chapman, Tom Chapman, Kane Rowland, Ashley Miller, Josh Oliver, Tyrell Mitford and Henry Arnold will all remain at the club next season.

A club statement said: “The club is in continued dialogue with Ollie Gray and an update will be issued in due course.

“We’d like to thank every player for their contribution to the club this season and wish all players not retained the best of luck.”

Despite The FA declaring that the Isthmian League and other league’s below the National League North and South were null and void, www.kentishfootball.co.uk will still be counting results from the 2019-20 football season.

Therefore, Longhurst was in charge of 14 Ramsgate in all competitions since taking over, losing eight of them and the club finished 10 points clear of basement side East Grinstead Town, who escaped relegation after The FA controversially denied Isthmian League clubs the chance of being promoted or relegated.
