Ramsgate joint-boss Danny Ward hails the return of combative midfielder Nick Treadwell

RAMSGATE have unveiled the signing of combative central midfielder Nick Treadwell, 25, from their league rivals Whitstable Town.

Joint-manager Danny Ward is delighted to have captured the hard-working midfielder from his former club.

“We gave Nick his senior debut when he was 18 here at Ramsgate against Staines Town,” he told www.ramsgate-fc.co.uk.

“He has played a lot of games at this level and will be a great addition for us.

“We took him to Sittingbourne with us, then brought him to Whitstable Town last season so we know him well.

“We’ve been after Nick all summer, but the loyal player that he is he wanted to see how the season progressed at Whitstable.  Folkestone Invicta came in for him last week, which forced our hand to act and re-approach him. I finally got my man!”

Treadwell won five different awards at the end of the 2014-15 season and was a firm favourite at The Belmont, but he has decided to leave following the departure of manager Will Graham on 27 August, after losing his first six games in charge of the club.

Treadwell said: “I’m really looking forward to getting back in the dressing room and joining the lads.

“I haven’t been enjoying my football, so I just want to get my head down and get started.

“I wish Whitstable the best of luck and thank them for their support.”
