Rams add another local lad to their squad

Ramsgate manager Jim Ward has added to his crop of talented local players with the capture of Nick Bagley, reports www.ramsgate-fc.co.uk

Although he lives within a short walking distance of the Ryman League Division One club’s ground at Southwood Stadium, Bagley is not familiar-a-face in local football, having started out at Chelsea before being signed full-time by Fulham at the age of 16.

After playing for Fulham’s youth and reserves last season, Bagley went to Priestfield as a trialist pre-season.  Although he turned out for the Gillngham reserve side, he ended up signing for Dover Athletic, where he made a couple of appearances for Clive Walker’s side.

Former Hastings United manager Neville Southall persuaded him to move to the East Sussex club in November, but having just turned 19 and recovering from a calf injury he is relishing the chance of playing for his home-town club, that are now third in the table thanks to striker Shaun Welford scoring the only goal of the game against strugglers Burgess Hill Town on Saturday.

Ramsgate can move into second place in the table, one point behind leaders Horsham, if they beat Leatherhead at Southwood Stadium on Tuesday night.
