Hopefully we can settle in the League and continue our form from last season, says Punjab United boss Jugjit Sian

Thursday 29th June 2017

PUNJAB UNITED manager Jugjit Sian says he is looking forward to the new season.

The Gravesend based outfit clinched the Andreas Carter Joma Kent County League Premier Division title at the first attempt and are preparing for life in the Southern Counties East Football League First Division.

They welcome Essex Senior League side Sporting Bengal United to their ground at the Elite Venue on Saturday.

“Looking forward to welcoming Sporting Bengal United, a really good side and a good test for our lads,” said Sian.

“I have had the boys back for pre-season in the middle of June. I wanted to start on their fitness early and keep pushing them through to when the season starts.

“I have given the boys a tough pre-season with the games coming up.  I wanted to see how the boys would step up to the next level playing against the Step Five clubs.

“I’m looking forward to seeing our new signing Joe Loft playing on Saturday.  Paul Lorraine (who has arrived from Cray Wanderers) is back near the end of July for his first game.”

The club are in the process of installing floodlights at their ground, which have been obtained from Salford City Football Club.

“I’m really looking forward to the season ahead.  The whole town is buzzing waiting for the season to start so hopefully we can settle in the League and continue our form from last season.”
