All credit to the players’, they are all training hard and buying into the coaching and I feel that is why we have been successful recently, says Punjab United coach Danny Barham
PUNJAB UNITED head coach Danny Barham praised his players’ for their hard graft on the training pitch as they look to close the gap on the league leaders on Saturday.
The Gravesend based outfit are enjoying a great debut campaign in the Southern Counties East Football League First Division and host Lydd Town on Saturday, having won three games on the bounce.
After losing 4-2 at Erith & Belvedere, Punjab have comfortably beaten Stansfeld 5-1, Lewisham Borough 5-0 and beat Bridon Ropes 3-0 last weekend.
K Sports lead the table with 56 points from 23 games and Kris Browning’s side are without a game at the weekend so a win for Punjab at the weekend will close the gap to one point with 13 games left to play.
“We fully respect Lydd as they were combative when we played them at their place so we know we’ll be in for a tough game,” said Barham, who is an Academy performance analyst at Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur.
“However, our players’ are in good form scoring a lot and not conceding many, so we are looking forward to Satu5rday as it should be a good game.
“All credit to the players’, they are all training hard and buying into the coaching and I feel that is why we have been successful recently.
“In particular in our last outing against a tough Bridon Ropes team, we were effective in both boxes, taking our chances and defending well and we can’t ask much more from the players’ than that.”
