It's been an amazing start to the season to be second in the league and a point behind the leaders at this time of the year is unbelievable, says Punjab United boss Jugjit Sian
PUNJAB UNITED manager Jugjit Sian has hailed his side’s amazing start to the season.
The Gravesend based outfit are playing at their highest level of football in their history and are fighting tooth and nail for the Southern Counties East Football League First Division title.
K Sports lead the way, however, on 41 points from 17 games, with Punjab United in hot pursuit, one point behind.
“It's been an amazing start to the season to be second in the league and a point behind the leaders at this time of the year is unbelievable,” said Sian.
“The boys have been excellent! They work hard in training, they push themselves to become better players and the unity in the squad is fantastic.
“Training is the key to the success and credit goes to the hard work put in by my coaching staff Danny, Jindi, Nigel and Abdul, they plan the sessions every week and accommodate the youth teams as well, training boys from 6pm to 9pm every week without fail.”
K Sports hold the upper hand in the title race after coming away from Punjab United with a goal-less draw last weekend.
“I'm pleased with the performance last week,” said Sian.
“We were outstanding in the first 45 minutes and had three great chances to score we didn't take them and the second half K Sports shut us out, that's football.”
Sian takes his side to fifth-placed FC Elmstead tomorrow, a side that are enjoying their best ever campaign at this level, in fifth-place.
“Looking forward to playing FC Elmstead, it was a good opening game to the season when they came to us so it's going to be a tough game so we have to be on top of our game,” said Sian.
“In this league anyone can beat anyone as every team never gives up it's a great challenge every week.”
