I hope we can move ourselves up this league to finish higher up the table and I can start to plan for next season, says Punjab United boss Chipie Sian

PUNJAB UNITED manager Chipie Sian says he wants to turn his side into a top-five outfit next season.

The Gravesend based outfit are presently sitting in the bottom five in the Sea Pioneer Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table, having collected 22 points from as many games.

Tomorrow, Sian’s side welcome league leaders Beckenham Town to the Elite Venue.

Jason Huntley’s side are four points clear of Chatham Town at the top of the table and Sian insists the game will be a “big test” for his side.

“We played well there at the beginning of the season and should have come away with a well-deserved draw but lost 2-1 in a tight game, so it will be a good test again tomorrow,” said Sian.

“We have been a bit short on numbers and we have had five first-team players missing with injuries and it showed against Sheppey and Bearsted that we haven’t got the depth in the squad to compete with the top teams when my best 11 is not there.

“I’m hoping to have back Paul Lorraine, Chandler Kasai, Timi Babbington, Bryan Zepo and Ayomide Majekodumi, which will be a welcomed boost to the whole team.

“The club is moving in the right direction on and off the pitch and now it’s time to be more consistent on the pitch.

“I feel if we can get this right we can be a top-five team in this division but it’s key to perform to that high level every week and that’s where we need to improve.

“I hope we can move ourselves up this league to finish higher up the table and I can start to plan for next season.”
