Punjab United boss Jugjit Sian: We're making Gravesham proud and hope we can continue the good start that we have had
PUNJAB UNITED manager Jugjit Sian says his side are making the local area proud as the newly-promoted side are sitting in second place in the Southern Counties East Football League First Division table after 12 games.
The Gravesend based club were promoted to that level after winning the Andreas Carter Joma Kent County League Premier Division table last season and are doing well in their new surroundings.
Punjab United have claimed 31 points from their 12 league outings and are three points adrift of K Sports but with a game in hand.
Last weekend, Punjab came from behind to seal a 2-1 home win over Charlton-based Meridian VP.
“We played really well from the start and should have been a couple of goals up but we wasted the opportunity,” said Sian.
“To be fair Meridian caught us on the break and scored a good goal. We went into half-time 1-0 down and I said to the boys continue playing our way and the chances will come and we had to play the ball quicker through the middle.
“We started brightly again and scored two well-worked goals. It was a hard game but a well-deserved win.
“A big shout out to all our supporters and sponsors who have been brilliant as we continue to make Gravesham proud and hope we can continue the good start that we have had.”
Sian takes his side to Hextable tomorrow to play a Sutton Athletic side in the bottom four in the table, having won three, drawn three and lost seven of their league games.
