Princes Park to stage showpiece final
The Kent County Football Association have emulated last season’s successful Kent Senior Trophy Final by playing this season’s showpiece final on a Sunday - and have chosen Dartford’s Princes Park Stadium as the venue, writes Stephen McCartney.
The 4,100 capacity, all covered stadium, recently voted the best non-league football stadium, will host it’s first ever senior cup final on Sunday, 15th April 2007.
Last season’s final, when VCD Athletic defeated Tunbridge Wells on penalties after the game finished 1-1 after extra time, was staged on a Sunday last season at Welling United’s Park View Road, attracting a crowd of over 500.
Unbeaten Kent League leaders Whitstable Town are favourites to win the showpiece final, but first they must get past Southern Amateur League minnows West Wickham in their banana skin tie at the Belmont on Saturday, 3rd March.
And Sevenoaks Town will be looking to reach their first cup final as a Kent League club as they travel to Kent County League minnows Bearsted on the same day.
