PLAY-OFF FINAL SPECIAL: CRAY CHAIRMAN CALLS FOR COUNTY WIDE SUPPORT

Thursday 30th April 2009
CHAIRMAN Gary Hillman calls upon the Kentish Football family to see his beloved Cray Wanderers clinch promotion into the Ryman Premier League on Saturday afternoon, writes Stephen McCartney.

The Magic Wands go into the winner-takes-all, Ryman League Division One South play-off final against Metropolitan Police in buoyant mood, having crushed Worthing’s promotion bid on Tuesday night, thanks to a fine Jamie Wood strike just before the break.

The Police arrive at Hayes Lane on the back a semi-final win at Fleet Town, the decisive goal being scored by former Bromley midfielder Gary Drewett.

And the chairman knows the job is only half done.

“It means nothing if we lose on Saturday,” Mr Hillman told www.kentishfootball.co.uk.

“It’s going to be a tough game, you don’t expect any easy games in the play-off final.

“A good thing is we’ve got home advantage.  There will be a big crowd here Saturday supporting us so it should be a big occasion.”

And with no other first-team games going ahead in Kent on Saturday, Mr Hillman has issued a rallying cry to fans of other Kent clubs to cheer on his club to promotion.

“I must admit, I was surprised with the support (against Worthing), obviously with the Champions League (match between Barcelona and Chelsea on TV),” said Mr Hillman.

“I was well pleased with the support from other teams, players and floating supporters so hopefully it will be a big crowd (for Saturday’s final) to get behind us.”

Cray Wanderers need no motivation for Saturday’s game, having lost last year’s play-off final at Tooting & Mitcham, courtesy of a lone strike from one of their former players, Paul Vines.

“We’ve got our end of season do on that night so hopefully it’s going to be a really good celebration,” added the chairman.

Although season tickets for Saturday’s final are NOT valid as it’s ALL PAY on the day, Cray Wanderers have this week announced details of next season’s season ticket prices.

The club have FROZEN prices for next season, despite not yet knowing which division they will be playing when the new season kick’s off in August.

Season tickets, priced at £125 (adults) and £65 (children and concessions), can be purchased from Dave Jackson on 07952 780 603, or in writing to 24 Kidbroke Park Close, Blackheath, London SE3 0EF.

Admission prices for the play-off final have been confirmed at £8 (adults) and £4 (concessions).

www.kentishfootball.co.uk  will be providing LIVE COVERAGE of this game.
