Phoenix Sports: Our most important task and challenge in the coming months will be to concentrate on trying to maintain the financial stability of our club

Friday 20th March 2020

A statement from the directors and committee of Isthmian League South East Division club Phoenix Sports.

“It is with genuine sadness that we have to announce the cancellation of our 85th Year Celebration Party planned for the 11th July due to the unprecedented situation that we are all experiencing.

We feel that in the current climate, and with no clue as to how the situation will unfold, let alone end, that it would be naive to think that we can continue to plan and part fund this event.

We are also mindful that our most important task and challenge in the coming months will be to concentrate on trying to maintain the financial stability of our club.

In addition, to expect members, friends and supporters of our club to part with their hard-earned cash to purchase the tickets, which goes a long way towards funding the event, would also prove a difficult task at this time.

Closer to the time there remains an element of risk that it may still not be a great idea to put over 300 people in a marquee for the night either.

One thing is for sure though, if our country is in a better place by July we will do our best to have one hell of a party!

A very humble request from the club, who like many, many others are moving (or have already moved!) into unknown and extremely difficult circumstances.

We will now be going through an extensive period of significantly low to almost zero income. Therefore, if there are any individuals who might feel inclined to do to donate their individual deposit for the party to the club then this completely optional and generous gesture would, without question, be very gratefully received.

To all those people that have paid their individual deposit and would like it returned, please contact Steve House Housey32@icloud.com who will then arrange reimbursement with you in the coming weeks.

Thank you everyone, and to you, your families and friends, please take care of each other and stay safe out there.”
