It would be nice to have a little run in this competition and try and get as far as we can, says Phoenix Sports boss Steve O'Boyle

PHOENIX SPORTS manager Steve O’Boyle says he is keen to guide the club through to The FA Cup Second Qualifying Round for only the second time in their history.

The club host Eastbourne Town to Mayplace Road East tomorrow, sitting in eleventh-place in the Bostik South Division, having collected seven points from their opening four games.

O’Boyle (pictured) saw his side suffer their first league defeat of the season when they lost 3-0 at local rivals Greenwich Borough last Monday afternoon.

“I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s FA Cup game at home to Eastbourne Town,” said O’Boyle, who welcomes an Eastbourne Town side that lie in the top five in the Southern Combination Premier Division with the same playing record.

“Although they are a division below, I am expecting a tough game because they’ve had a decent start to the season.

“I’m also happy with the start that we have made, although we did get beaten on Monday by a very strong Greenwich Borough side.

“We’ve had a tough start and have points on the board.  It would be nice to get back to winning ways on Saturday, to get into the next round.

“It would be nice to have a little run in this competition and try and get as far as we can.”
