Our reward is to play at Wembley, says Fleet star McPhee - EXCLUSIVE
CHRIS McPHEE is chasing the Wembley dream ahead of Saturday’s FA Carlsberg Trophy quarter-final clash up at Burton Albion, writes Stephen McCartney.
The attack minded Ebbsfleet United star, 25 next month, believes the Kent club are on course to finish off this campaign with success at Wembley Stadium.
McPhee is confident that the Fleet can defeat Nigel Clough’s side on their own patch, having ended the Staffordshire side’s unbeaten away run when the two clubs met at Stonebridge Road on 26th January.
Goals from Neil Barrett and John Akinde sealed a 2-1 victory that day, and former Torquay United star McPhee wants a repeat when they meet for a place in the two-legged semi-finals at the weekend.
Speaking EXCLUSIVELY to www.kentishfootball.co.uk, McPhee said: “We’re looking at where it could take us.
“Burton Albion are standing in the way of us getting to Wembley so we’re going to go into the game thinking we want to win because we want to finish this season at Wembley.
“We feel we’ve done well enough this season to reward ourselves by going to Wembley and that’s what we’ll be looking to do.”
Reflecting on their last meeting, McPhee said: “We’ve beaten Burton and I feel and the rest of the boys feel that we deserved to win that game as well.
“We played them off the park pretty much and we’ll be looking to go into that game and taking the win and going through to the semi-finals.
