Our poor run will end, insists Burman

Dartford manager Tony Burman insists their poor run will end – but doesn’t know if that will be against Wingate & Finchley tomorrow.Looking ahead to their trip to North London, Burman told www.dartfordfootballclub.co.uk: "They're a team who have had a couple of excellent results recently and are just behind us in the league and although we beat them at home I was very impressed with the football they played against us.”
Burman is, however, concerned with his side’s poor form. “Over the last month or so rightly or wrongly the players have experienced all the negative sides that football can throw at them.
”Football can be the best and the worst game to be involved in but hopefully they will come through their experiences better people and players for it.
”This poor run will end but when I cannot guarantee, but with each game you have a chance to put things right and tomorrow is our next chance.”
Burman, meanwhile, admitted: “This week I have tried in vain to add to the squad without success but I am still going to be active in this area.”
However, on the injury front Steve Hafner has suffered a slight set back in training and is ruled out for tomorrow’s game. Midfielder Ryan Briggs, meanwhile, has recovered from illness and will be added to the squad.
Supporters getting to Summers Lane early will see striker Jim Carter doing a little bit of jogging. “Don’t get too excited as this is only the start of Jim’s recovery,” explained Burman.
Burman calls for Darts fans to continue supporting the side. “Everyone at the club has been disappointed with the way things have turned out over the last month or so, but in these difficult times on the pitch I still think it is so important for all of us to stick together.
”No matter the result this is the club that we support and care about.”
Meanwhile, the club’s second string reached the final of the Kentish Observer League reserve division Cup on Wednesday.
Their 4-2 win at Ashford Town sent them through 9-2 on aggregate and they should be playing Whitstable Town in the final, as the Oystermen defeated Folkestone Invicta 5-1 in the first leg earlier in the week.
Burman added: “I am especially pleased for the players who have not been involved in the first team squad this season and have come through a change of manager and stayed with the club throughout the year.”
