Our pitch resembles thick chocolate sauce , admit Herne Bay

TONIGHT’S much-delayed Kent Senior Trophy tie between Herne Bay and VCD Athletic was postponed following a 12 noon pitch inspection, writes Stephen McCartney.

The two sides will try again this coming Saturday, which replaces the Bulmers Cider Kent League game between them.

“Unfortunately the pitch has defrosted and some areas, particularly the goal-mouths, resemble thick chocolate sauce,” said a Herne Bay statement this morning, posted on www.hernebayfc.net.

“On the bright side, the forecast is good for the next few days so with the drainage works that have been/are being done, it looks very good for the weekend game going ahead on a reasonable playing surface.

“We were playing VCD in a Kent League match and this will now be the Kent Senior Trophy quarter-final instead.”
