Our minds are on the job, insists Watson

Folkestone Invicta boss Neil Cugley wants his side to bounce back from their FA Cup disappointment by beating Margate in the big east Kent derby on Monday night, writes Stephen McCartney.

Invicta squandered a chance of hosting Coca Cola League One side Swansea City in the first round of the FA Cup, losing 2-0 at home to their Ryman Premier League rivals Billericay Town in front of the largest crowd at Cheriton Road this season.

Although most of the 659 went home disappointed on Saturday, Cugley’s men don’t have long to get their disappointment out of their system.

“Sometimes you need a game, I think, to get it out of your system,” Cugley told www.kentishfootball.co.uk.

Cugley made the trip to Hartsdown Park last week to see Robin Trott’s men defeat Aylesbury United 3-1 in their FA Trophy replay.

And he said: “I watched Margate the other day, I was impressed with them, play good football.”

Cugley entices Invicta fans to return to Cheriton Road on Monday night, as his players look to perform better on home soil.

He added: “Evening games are always exciting, always good mostly here, so hopefully we can get everybody up and off we go.”

Margate have now gone four games unbeaten for the first time this season and will be hoping to capitalise on Folkestone’s poor home form.

Margate’s Steve McKimm will miss out through suspension, the second of his three match ban, but manager Robin Trott looks to have no other significant absentees.

Striker Rob Haworth will be looking to take the lead with league goals in Gate’s scoring charts.

His brace in Margate's 3-3 draw at Heybridge Swifts on Saturday has taken him level with Charlie Side and James Pinnock on four goals. However, he is still two behind Side in the overall chart.

Meanwhile, Folkestone right wing-back, Kevin Watson, believes his team-mates will have the right mentality to bounce back after their 2-0 FA Cup shocker on Saturday.

“I think that’s the one bonus (following FA Cup exit), we can concentrate on the league now and it’s always the priority especially at this club,” he said.

“The Cups are a bonus (but) I think we’ve just got to get back to our game and just focus, get our shape right, get our mentality right and we should be allright.

“We’ve still got the same group of players out there so go (lets) get back to the winning streak.”
