Our luck - and time - is running out, says concerned Margate director

MARGATE director Colin Page says luck is going against them as the club bid to claw themselves out of the Ryman Premier League drop zone.

The Blues suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of AFC Hornchurch at Bridge Avenue on Saturday and Mr Page was left cursing his side’s luck.

Mr Page knows lady luck has to shine on the Thanet club, or they will be relegated from the Ryman Premier League at the end of the season.

The Blues have played 26 games and have collected 22 points, and as a result are second-from-bottom, five points adrift from safety.

But he admitted the Urchins' 3-0 win was flattering.

“Well, it wasn’t a 3-0 defeat,” Mr Page told www.margate-fc.com. “We bombarded their goal (in the) second half; two off the line. The ball doesn’t fall to our players, it goes down the other end, falls to their player and he puts it in and makes it 3-0.”

He added: “When you’re bottom of the league, you don’t get the luck.”

Mr Page says the club are concerned with the club’s current predicament and that their luck has to change when Ashford Town (Middlesex) visit Hartsdown Park on Saturday.

“We’ve played three or four games more than most teams in the bottom half (of the table), so it’s a concern for us,” he said.
