Our Christmas fixtures are very tough, says Deal Town boss Albie Barker

Thursday 19th December 2013
DEAL TOWN manager Albie Barker says he is satisfied with his start with the club after taking over from Derek Hares in October.

Deal Town are in the bottom six in the Southern Counties East Football League table with 15 points from 13 games.

They welcome second-placed Tunbridge Wells to the Charles Sports Ground on Saturday before welcoming league leaders Ashford United on Saturday 28 December.

“Our Christmas fixtures are very tough,” said Barker.

“Whyteleafe last Saturday, Tunbridge Wells and Ashford next up for us. The Southern Counties East Football League champions will be one of these teams.”

He added: “Since I’ve taken over at Deal the results have been satisfactory.

“If we can take some points from the Christmas fixtures I am confident we will finish in the top ten. That would give us a good platform to build upon for next season.”

Barker has appointed former Canterbury City manager Paul Murray as his assistant.

Barker said: “We now have our management team finalised. Muzza is a fantastic coach and he will bring a lot to the club.”
