OTFORD UNITED manager Ricky Tompkins has appointed Kenny Gillam as his goalkeeper coach for next season.

The Recreation Ground based club were sitting in the bottom three in the Kent County League Premier Division table with 16 points from their 18 league games at the time of the coronavirus pandemic halting football which resulted in The Football Association controversially declaring the campaign null and void.

“Excited to be joining Otford as the goalkeeper coach for the upcoming season,” Bexley resident Gillam said on his Twitter account.

“Looking forward to working with Ricky Tompkins and Terry Donovan and embarking on my first challenge in management in the Saturday Leagues.”

Tompkins added: “Kenny is a young, enthusiastic and great lad who will give us much needed assistance.  He was involved heavily with Phoenix before various Kent County sides and we welcome him to the management side for when football returns.”

The O’s conceded 55 goals in their 18 league outings during the expunged 20-19-20 football season but the side with the worst defensive record in the division went to ninth-placed Hawkinge Town, whom leaked 75 goals in their 20 league games.
