O'Boyle wants best ever season

Thursday 12th February 2009

ERITH TOWN boss Steve O’Boyle says he has not ruled out his side’s chances of clinching the Bulmers Cider Kent League title this season, writes Stephen McCartney.

The Dockers are currently third in the table after 19 games and a win over second placed Holmesdale at Bayliss Avenue on Saturday will enhance his side’s chances.

O’Boyle, speaking to www.kentishfootball.co.uk this morning, has challenged his side to mount pressure on leaders Hythe Town, who have six more points.

“It will be a really tough game,” said O’Boyle, whose side have picked up 35 points so far this season.

“They are second in the table, a place above us, but we’re on a good run so if we can match their work-rate, I’m confident we can get a result.

“We do have a chance of winning the league, but our target is still 52 points, one more than last year when we finished fifth. Anything else is a bonus.”

Erith Town have some tasty fixtures to play in the next few weeks.

“We have all the top side to play, starting on Saturday, and if we play well, you never know what will happen," added O'Boyle.

“There are a few teams in the mix, who are expected to win it.”

The Dockers boss, meanwhile, has strengthened his squad by snapping up Lawrence Collins from landlords Thamesmead Town.

Collins, 18, is a left-footed midfielder and he replaces Dan Parrish, who recently quit the club.

O’Boyle, meanwhile, said he is without Lee Morgan and Ted Hart, through suspension.
