O'Boyle adds youth and experience to his squad

ERITH TOWN have announced that Drew Watkins has signed for the club, writes Stephen McCartney.


The versatile 28-year-old has vast experience of playing at a higher level, and clinched the Kent League title with Cray Wanderers and Dockers boss Steve O'Boyle is delighted to have signed him yesterday.

"Drew is a great signing and this shows the direction we are going in and (that) we are ambitious," he told www.erithtown.com.

"He has trained superbly in our sessions this week."

Watkins has a lot of experiencce at a higher level of football and has played for the likes of Wimbledon, AFC Wimbledon, Cray Wanderers, Tonbridge Angels and Folkestone Invicta.

Erith Town have also signed central midfielder Sam O'Keeffe, 19, who previously played under O'Boyle at Thamesmead Town, where he was a very successful reserve team manager.

"I had Sam when he was part of our successful reserve side at Thamesmead," he said.  "He is a good player and has a big future."

The Dockers have also signed some highly-rated players from the youth set-up, taking O'Boyle's first team squad to nineteen players.

Greg Benbow, Salih Hafiz, Wade Vinchenzo and Leo Makula have put pen to paper on first team forms.

And three of last season's first team squad have also re-signed, with Laurence Collins, Adam Cottrell and Lee Craig committing their future to the Erith Sports Stadium outfit.
