New Romney appoint Dave Johncock and Damian Abel as joint-managers
NEW ROMNEY has announced that they will have joint-managers in charge of their team next season.
The Station Road outfit finished in fifth-place in the Andreas Carter Kent County League Premier Division table last season, having collected 55 points from their 30 league outings.
Dave Johncock’s men reached the Bill Manklow Inter-Regional Challenge Cup Final but suffered a 5-2 defeat to Division One West side Chipstead, who found themselves 5-0 up at one stage during the game that was played at the home of Rochester United on Tuesday 14 May 2019.
“New Romney are delighted to announce that Damian Abel will join current first team manager Dave Johncock as joint-manager,” said a club statement.
“Damian joint-managed Hawkinge Town last season with Dom Castle and will join the management team as the first team look to progress on their fifth-placed finish last year.
“Naturally, he will also be a key part of the playing squad too.
“Dom will also join as part of the first team coaching staff and will be a superb addition to the club.”
Hawkinge Town finished their Premier Division campaign in ninth-placed last season, finishing nine points behind New Romney.
New Romney have many former Hythe Town players in their ranks and Abel has played for a number of higher league clubs during his career, including Hythe Town, Folkestone Invicta, Ramsgate, Faversham Town and Ashford United.
