Moore: Arnold gives us competition for number one spot

Friday 17th February 2006
Derek Moore, the joint-manager of Kentish Observer League side Sevenoaks Town, is relishing their next game – against Beckenham Town on Tuesday night.

The Greatness Park outfit are third from bottom in the table, having won just three of their 21 games this season, but performances have picked up recently.

Looking ahead to their home game against the league’s highest goalscorers, Moore told www.sevenoakstownfc.org “We played Maidstone the week before, it will be nice to benchmark the Beckenham side against Maidstone.

”We’ve looked at Beckenham on two or three occasions and they play a different style of football to Maidstone.

”We’re looking forward to it and we think we can make a good account of ourselves – although they are of course a fabulous footballing side.”

Moore, meanwhile, handed goalkeeper Chris Arnold his Sevenoaks debut in their 1-1 draw with Deal Town last week.

“Chris has been around the non-league scene for an awful long time,” he said.

“He is highly respected for what he does in goal.  We need some strength in depth in the goalkeeping position and Chris gives us that.

“I was very pleased with his contribution and it makes a bit of competition for the number one spot.”

Meanwhile, the club’s Greatness Park ground has been selected for two women’s fixtures.

On Wednesday, 8th March, the club holds the KCFA representative match between Kent Women and their Sussex counterparts.

Then on Wednesday, 12th April, the KCFA Women’s Cup Final returns to the club.  Last season Millwall pulled off a shock by beating favourites Charlton Athletic on penalties.
