MILLWALL have released 18 players following their relegation from the Championship.

The south east London outfit issued their retained list to the Football League on Thursday.

Skipper Alan Dunne ends his proud 22-year association with the club, during which he made 390 appearances and scored 23 goals.

Chairman John Berylson told the club’s website: “It is always sad when a member of your family who has lived with you for a long time, leaves home.

“Like Neil Harris and Paul Robinson before him, Alan leaves us with our thanks and very best wishes for the future.

“He has written his own chapter in Millwall’s history and he will always be very welcome whenever he returns to The Den.

“While Alan will continue his playing career elsewhere, it would not surprise me to see him back here in some capacity further down the line.”

Manager Neil Harris has confirmed that Jimmy Abdou and John Marquis will be discussing the offer of new contracts at the club, whilst Carlos Edwards has been invited to continue his rehabilitation with The Lions.

Retained by the club are: Abdou, Mark Beevers, Paris Cowan-Hall, Shaun Cummings, David Forde, Lee Gregory, Tom King, Marquis, Lee Martin, Sid Nelson, Aiden O’Brien, Fred Onyedinma, Alfie Pavey, Jack Powell, Mahlon Romeo, Ben Thompson, Ed Upson, Byron Webster, Shaun Williams, Keaton Wood.

Former Maidstone Untied Academy striker Pavey made his Football League debut on the last day of the season, coming on as an 90th minute substitute in their 4-2 defeat at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 19-year-old tweeted: “What a day for myself, making my first senior debut for Millwall. Very proud day for myself and my family.  It’s been a rollercoaster of a year but a very proud one for myself. Second season at the club and I am enjoying every minute of it and could not ask for a better group of lads to be doing my journey with.

“Looking forward to see what the future brings. Time to recover and enjoy my summer before going again in June.”

Nicky Bailey, Matthew Briggs, Dylan Casey, Richard Chaplow, Carlos Edwards, Sofiane El-Bekri, Ricardo Fuller, Denzel Gerrar, Jake Goodman, Magaye Gueye, Justin Hoyte, Stefan Maierhofer, Angel Martinez, Danny Shittu, Josh Siafa, Callum Webb and Martyn Woolford have also been released as the club prepare for life in League One.
